Charity Challenges

Every year since we began, we've run dozens of charity challenges on Ben Nevis helping many

individuals and organisations raise money for a host of good causes.  With the launch of our new website, we thought we'd offer a choice of activities which may inspire folk to get out there and raise some cash for a good cause.

All our challenges are organised to meet the precise requirements of the client.  As well as the event itself, we can provide transport, accommodation, meals, certificates of achievement or whatever else you need to make your event a success.  Please give us a ring, or drop us an email, with your requirements.

Below are some of the challenges we'll be offering in 2010 and beyond.  We'll be adding more detail soon so, in the meantime, if there's anything your interested in please get in touch for a chat.

Ben Nevis

Always a favourite, as the highest mountain in the British Isles is achievable by most people with a basic level of fitness and a bit of determination.  In 2009 we had our oldest summiteer, a lady just a few weeks off 80 years of age.

We've taken a gorilla to the top (ok, it was a bloke in a suit) and we've even helped a lucky couple get married on the summit during a fundraising ascent.  In November.  In a blizzard!

A short Youtube video made by one of the organisations we helped raise some money can be seen here (opens in new window).

Whether you're a single individual, or have a group of 200, we can help organise your event.

Crew a racing yacht on the West Coast of Scotland

For an experience encompassing endurance, teamwork, determination and mental challenge this is the one to choose.  sailing round Skye, or to St Kilda are favourites but whatever you choose you'll need to be determiined.  The hours are long and the going might be very tough but at the end of it you'll feel on top of the world.  This challenge can last for as much or as little time you have.

Walk the Lairig Ghru

This 18-mile footpath between Braemar and Coylumbridge, near Aviemore, cuts straight through the heart of the Cairngorms.  Although the waking is not too challenging, the situation is awesome and offers a real sense of remoteness.  We can start from either Braemar or Aviemore and can arrange transport to get you back to your start point.

Mountain Bike Across Scotland

This 7-day challenge starts on the east side of Scotland, in Aberdeen or Stonehaven, and arrives on the west coast at Fort William.  Passing through some stunning scenery the ride is mostly on good forest tracks with the occasional single-track section.  It's a great way of getting into remote areas and discovering the different character of each Highland area.

The Cairgorm Four-Thousanders

Spend a couple (or one if you want a really challenging challenge) of days getting round the 4000ft peaks of the Cairngorms.  Carrying overnight equipment, including a tent, your party will spend the night in the heart of the Cairngorms at the end of the first day.  The second day will see an early start before ascending the remaining mountains and returning to your start point.

Cycle the Outer Hebrides

This is another 7-day cycle challenge from the Butt of Lewis to Barra, all of which on surfaced roads.  After taking the ferry from Ullappool to Stornoway, the cycling starts the following day from the Butt of Lewis and travels down through Lewis and Harris and across the ferry to North Uist.  After crossing Benbecula to South Uist, the route then takes another ferry to Barra completing the challenge.  The journey home is via ferry to Mallaig.
